Salmonella infections in wild birds are reported frequently. The objectives of this study were to isolate Salmonella serovars from a large collection of samples obtained from pet birds in Tehran, Iran, and then to determine the serotypes and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of the isolates. Between October 2007 and August 2008, 668 samples from 24 different species were collected from birds kept in parks and pet shops of Tehran. Samples contained cloacal swabs from large birds, freshly-dropped feces from small birds and, infrequently, carcasses. Multiple samples from the same bird were pooled and considered as an individual sample. All samples were cultured for the isolation and identification of Salmonella serovars according to standard procedures. Serotyping was performed by slide agglutination test to determine the O and H antigens of the isolates. The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was determined to a panel of 30 antimicrobial agents using the agar disc diffusion method. In total, 19 Salmonella isolates (2.8%) were identified. Samples that were positive for Salmonella originated from canaries (10 out of 62, 16.1%), pigeons (5 out of 139, 3.6%), psittacines (3 out of 130, 2.3%), and eagles (1 out of 2, 50%). All Salmonella isolates were susceptible to danofloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin, amikacin, gentamicin, and tobramycin. Resistance to other antibacterial agents was variable and ranged from 0-57.9%. There were 17 resistance patterns among the isolates. Serotyping identified nine isolates (47.3%) as serogroup B, six isolates (31.5%) as serogroup C, and four isolates (21%) as serogroup D. The findings of this study showed the presence of Salmonella infection among captive birds. Due to the close contact between these type of birds and humans, these findings present an important risk for public health.}, keywords = {}, title_fa = {آلودگی سالمونلوز در پرندگان زینتی پارک ها و پرنده فروشی های تهران، ایران}, abstract_fa = {هدف از این مطالعه جداسازی سالمونلا از مجموعه بزرگی از نمونه های جمع آوری شده از پرندگان زینتی در شهر تهران و تعیین سروتیپ و الگوی مقاومت دارویی سالمونلا های جدا شده بود. تعداد 668 نمونه از 24 گونه مختلف از مهر 86 تا مرداد 87 از پرندگانی که در پارک ها و پرنده فروشی ها شهر تهران نگهداری می شدند جمع آوری شدند. نمونه برداری شامل سواب های کلواک از پرندگان با جثه بزرگتر و نمونه مدفوعی تازه دفع شده از پرندگان با جثه کوچکتر و در تعدادی موارد از لاشه بود. تعدادی از نمونه ها از همان پرنده با هم مخلوط شدند و به عنوان یک نمونه تلقی گردیدند. تمامی نمونه ها بر اساس روشهای استاندارد برای جداسازی سالمونلا کشت داده شدند. سروتایپینگ بر اساس روش استاندارد روی لام جهت تشخیص پادگن های O و H صورت گرفت و پس از آن، حساسیت ضد میکروبی جدایه ها بر اساس روش استاندارد دیسک دیفوژیون نسبت به 30 عامل ضد میکروبی تعیین شد. در مجموع 19 جدایه سالمونلا بدست آمد که متعلق به قناری (10 تا از 62 نمونه 1/16%)، کبوتر(5 تا از 139 نمونه، 6/3%)، طوطی سانان (3 تا از 130 نمونه، 3/2%) و عقاب (یکی از 2 نمونه، 50%) بودند. همه نمونه های جدا شده به دانوفلوکساسین، نورفلوکساسین، لووفلوکساسین، آمیکاسین، جنتامایسین و توبرامایسین حساسیت کامل داشتند. مقاومت به سایر عوامل ضد میکروبی متنوع و طیفی بین صفر تا 9/57 درصد بود. در بین جدایه های مقاوم، وقوع مقاومت چندگانه بسیار شایع بود و 17 الگوی مقاومت دارویی شناسایی شدند. بر اساس نتایج سروتایپینگ، 9 جدایه (3/47%) به عنوان سروگروپ B ، 6 جدایه (5/31%) متعلق به گروه سرمی C و 4 جدایه (21%) متعلق به گروه سرمی D بودند. این مطالعه نشان داد که عفونت سالمونلائی در پرندگان زینتی شیوع دارد.}, keywords_fa = {}, url = {https://ijvm.ut.ac.ir/article_23839.html}, eprint = {https://ijvm.ut.ac.ir/article_23839_5302826dc6e5c4f7e2cc0285a6a0ceb8.pdf} }
