Abstract

Echinostomatidoses of birds belong to the group of poorly studied diseases of geese, manifested by oppression, emaciation, diarrhea, presence of trematodes of Echinostoma revolutum, Hypodereum conoideum and Echinoparyphium recurvatum species belonging to the family Echinostomatidae in all intestinal tracts. The aim of the research was to study the ecology and epizootology of waterfowl echinostomatidosis pathogens. The prevalence of trematodoses of Echinostoma revolutum, Hypodereum conoideum and Echinoparyphium recurvatum species in waterfowl (geese) was studied in 2016 - 2022 in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The infestation of poultry was determined by the results of helminthovoscopic studies of geese droppings, incomplete helminthological autopsies of intestines at backyard slaughter. Scheduled and unscheduled slaughter was carried out at poultry farms and peasant (private) farms. Diagnosis of helminthic diseases by helminthovoscopy of droppings and incomplete helminthologic autopsies of the large and small intestine was carried out throughout the year. Pathological material was analyzed from 620 geese of Hungarian White, Kholmogorskaya, Chinese, Italian White and Linda breeds. The article presents the results of research on studying the spread of echinostomatidosis of geese and ducks in the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan. According to the results of autopsies and helminthoscopic studies, the intensity of infestation in geese in the forest-steppe zone of the republic amounted to 76.7%, in the steppe zone - 54.5%, in the mountain forest zone - 36.7%. The dependence of invasion extensiveness on intensity was established. At low intensity of invasion in Echinostomes reproductive ability increases 1.3 times. The intestinal parasitofauna is represented by species of Echinostoma revolutum, Hypodereum conoideum and Echinoparyphium recurvatum. The intensity of infestation in the form of mixed infestation in combination of Echinostoma revolutum and Hypodereum conoideum species in geese amounted to 36.0%. In order to preventive and therapeutic deworming we recommend to treat poultry of all ages from September to October.
